“Hitarthi” bano !

When the youth get involved, you can be sure something positive will result and that is exactly what is happening in Allahabad in the Hitarthi Foundation. The value of the ShikshaDaan Yatra is most felt when we discover gems people like Shashank, Himanshu and their friends.

A little bit of background – While having breakfast at Hyatt, Lucknow on the 13th, just before leaving for Allahabad, Himanshu who is part of the Rocca serving team said hello and asked us about ShikshaDaan. When I explained to him about it, he immediately told me about a foundation that he and his friends setup in Allahabad even while being in college. They go into the slums in Allahabad and teach the children after school so that they stay in school and do better. No money or very little money is involved as these are college going kids themselves who are taking the time out to help younger kids.

Himanshu immediately asked me to meet his friends in Allahabad and he got me connected to Shashank. Even before we drove into Allahabad, Shashank pinged me and I told him that we can meet the next day as we were really tired after the four hour drive from Lucknow.

On May 14th evening, Shashank and Shivam came to meet us at Kanchan Villa. They explained how they work and we explained about how we work and it was a fun evening. Shashank is studying to be a Chartered Accountant. Both Shivam and Shashank have so much enthusiasm for the work they are doing ! not just that, Shashank got us introduced to Pratibha Ji in Varanasi who is another inspiration for us. More about her in a separate post. This was the only meeting that I did in my track pants :).

The one thing we have realised in this U.P and Bihar leg of the ShikshaDaan Yatra is that India is in safe hands …. the young men and women of this country are smart, aware, hardworking and get involved with the community early. All good signs that the future is bright and our PM Narendra Modi’s vision of a new India is taking shape.

Just read the byline below the Hitarthi Foundation name – it says it all. Life dedicated to the good of the nation.
