Ever since its inception this day in 1988, Sevalaya has been growing from year to year. Some years it has been steady, and in others it has been rapid. Particularly in the current decade the progress has been astounding, if not astronomical.

We have come a long way from the time we were in a rented building with 5 boys going to a nearby school; the time we purchased a patch of land, by passing around the hat to a group of TCs employees, after the sanctioned stretch by the Panchayat eluded us even after our successfully persuading the then Governor; the time we were housed in a thatched shed and later shifted to a small construction which doubled as a class in the day and shelter in the night..The teaching methodology was just Chalk and Talk. The day we got a bagful of crackers for our children was an occasion for celebration. Our planning was confined to a few individuals huddled in a room discussing things-passionately and ambitiously though. There were days when closing the accounts of what small magnitude it was,was a nightmare with one person calling out figures and the other ‘ticking’ half asleep, and going through the process several times to make the left side of the book match with the right.

What with a sprawling complex and plethora of activities with a wider gamut benefiting the poor and the deprived ,beyond boundaries, trainers from all over the globe teaching through Video Conferencing; presence in other parts of Tamilnadu, and even internationally, with expert advisors and trustees actively involving themselves even at the grass root level.

The Progress is unstoppable. The caravan marches on.
