ShikshaDaan Yatra begins ..

As PM Modi left for his European tour, Mom, Krishnan and I started on the ShikshaDaan Yatra by reaching Chandigarh yesterday. We stayed with Venkat and Shikha and from the time we reached, it was a non-stop marathon session of sharing ideas and experiences ! Venkat Matoory is the CEO of Junior Achievement, India and thanks Venkat for sharing valuable insights with us. It has brought greater clarity and focus on the right stuff for ShikshaDaan.

Today the ShikshaDaan Yatra was flagged off by 9-month old Shreyam, Shikha and Venkat … Just the right people to flag this off, because of their deep commitment to India and because all of us want to create a better world for Shreyam and his generation.

What is the ShikshaDaan Yatra ?

We plan to drive across India over the next three years and visit every single district in India, (there are 676 of them) to understand the state of higher education (10th plus) and vocational training. ShikshaDaan would like to fund those unable to fund their higher education and in order to do that, we would meet with the local NGOs, Government colleges and schools and also individuals doing work in this area.

We have started off the Yatra from Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh and over the next 40 days we hope to cover nearly 10 districts of Himachal and Dehradun in Uttaranchal.

We reached Bilaspur around 3 pm and start our meetings from tomorrow.

Stay tuned to this blog for updates from the Yatra and do share the details widely as we need everyone’s help in getting to our goal of funding 1.25 crore (12 million) Indians !! Too big ? Well, what’s the fun in climbing over a molehill :):):).
